Dear and much respected father,

It is with pleasure that I am going to drop a few lines to you to let you know that we got marching orders to be ready to move any minute the talk is we are going to Mobile and I guess we will have some fighting to do, all I ask I hope I will come out safe and if it is Gods will I know I will to and if it isnít it is all right. So no more at present excuse my bad writing for I was in a hury. I send my best respect to you all. Write soon.
